Trainer Course Information Pack

INTRODUCTION
Phil Hirst (Principal trainer - AIM Instructor Training (UK)) has been successfully training ADIs for over 17 years. Over 95% of potential instructors (PDIs) who carried out a full course with AIM have qualified. This pass rate compares very favourably with national pass rates published by DSA where only 2 or 3 out of 10 people qualify.

Phil is also putting his skills and experience into training qualified ADIs to become ADI Trainers. His first courses were run in 2002 and so far over 160 driving instructors have become Trainers, many of whom have achieved ORDIT accreditation.

OPPORTUNITY
To operate a thriving instructor training business you need a quality product and preparatory training. Phil has developed a business system and training resources which can be used by those ADIs with the drive and ambition to diversify their business, further their careers and increase their income. This opportunity comprises the following:

TRAINING COURSE
The training essential to prepare you to become an ADI Trainer is usually carried out on a 1:1 basis. The course lasts 4 days (24 hours) and can run on consecutive days or spread over several weeks. If you wish to concentrate mainly on part three delivery and preparation for the ORDIT Inspection we run a 3 day 1:1 course.

TRAINING SUPPORT PACK
So that you can operate as an ADI Trainer immediately after completing the ADI Trainer course, you will receive a copy of, and detailed briefing on, each of the following manuals:

  • ADI Trainer Course Handbook
  • Part 1 Study Guide and Assessment Tests
  • Part 2 Driving Workbook
  • Part 3 Instructing Workbook
  • ATS - Complete ADI Teaching System for the Part 3 Test

MARKET
Each year over 20,000 people enquire about becoming an ADI and at any one time there are around 15,000 PDIs under training. If you attracted one PDI per month (each paying up to £2500) that would be a considerable increase in turnover without distracting you too much from your driving school business.

The market for ADI Trainers can be summarized as:

  • Part time training courses for PDIs (part 1,2 and 3)
  • Check test training for ADIs
  • CPD training (driver and instructor skills upgrades)
  • Expand your own driving school

COST
The cost for the Training Course is £995 for a 1:1 course (4 days), £750 for a 3 day 1:1 course and £595 for a 2:1 course (5 days) .The training is essential if you are to develop the skills required to "train the trainers". Bed and breakfast accommodation can be arranged for you in Harrogate at the subsidised rate of £30 per night.

The AIM (UK) ADI Trainer course is excellent value, will prepare you thoroughly to train ADIs and provides a great business opportunity.

Top Class! Good information can be priceless.

Eddie Pritchett - Weymouth...
Thank you for an excellent course. I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending you to other ADIs who are considering making a move in to instructor training.

Steve Pinnock - Welwyn, Herts...
The course was money well spent. I have learned how to train other instructors, which has already led to further income.

Steve Gillingham - Sunderland...
Friendly, patient, tactful, excellent knowledge, top class trainer training.

Paul Whitaker - Sleaford, Lincs...
Not only did I thoroughly enjoy the course but I feel like I gained valuable knowledge in the field of ADI training. In fact, I think I learnt more about the skills required of a driving instructor, than I did in my entire ADI training.

Excellent! Course was well organised and well delivered. All aspects of ADI training were fully covered.
